“Hemelliggaam (Afrikaans for heavenly body) or The Attempt To Be Here Now” is a visual archive, composed of original photographs, video, installations, text and sounds, exploring the existential aspects of the human environment-astronomy relationship. The project, involving more than six years of production, is constantly moving between the reality of significant scientific sites and the imaginative fragments of old Afrikaans science fiction novels. The material, selected by the curator in collaboration with the artists, is compelling visitors to reconsider their perceptions and fostering contemplation on our presence on Earth.

“The appearance” is a site-specific exhibition hosted at the Central Methodist Mission.

The exhibition will run from the 15th February to the 4th March, open daily 7am - 6pm, Sundays open until 4pm
